13.6 Mile Run and a Business Trip to Austin

<<< Road trip to Florida Update >>>

December 18, 2007:

This weekend was one of the proudest (and most painful) weekends of my adult life.  Pam and I ran 13.6 miles Sunday morning.  No, it's not the half marathon, but the peak of our training routine.  The only long runs we have left before the half marathon in January is a 9 mile, 7 mile, and then 5 mile run.

After the run, I had to (or rather, refused to decline to) work on Sunday, to help prepare a brief for the Supreme Court of Texas.  This was the first time I had ever come in on the weekend, and it was quite novel to be able to wear my jeans and Pantera t-shirt to work!

Then yesterday, for the second time since I started working here, I got to spend a day traveling.  I can't give too many specifics, since it is, after all, work, but the bottom line is I got to drive to Austin for a Texas Supreme Court filing.

The drive was pretty uneventful.  Since I was traveling sans Pam, I decided to go the audio book route, listening to The Borne Identity.  It read (listened) like an action movie, so I'm not surprised they made it into one!  I got about 2/5 the way through it on the 6 hour round trip.  I'm going to have to bring headphones when we drive to Florida, so I can listen to it when Pam is taking naps.

After the filing, I spent my lunch break at Chipotlé with my Dad, then I went to Great Hall Games (the best game store in Texas) and bought Order of the Stick Adventure Game for $40.  I played it at OwlCon last February and I have wanted to buy it ever since.  Pam was having trouble deciding what to get me for Christmas, and I shouldn't of bought the game anyway, so we just decided to make that my Christmas Gift.

I wish I had a job where I got to travel more.  I really enjoy it.

It's a good thing I hadn't already gotten the stick game, I actually had reserved it at Great Hall and then changed my mind!

I actually got the last copy at Great Hall Games, so if you didn't un-reserve it, I probably wouldn't of been able to get it!
