Cheap Travel

All this week I've been daydreaming about how to get away and travel.  The biggest obstacles were time and money.  So I started looking for cheap or free ways to do a weekend getaway.

First and most interesting was the Auto Driveaway program.  Someone has a car that is in point A and they need it to go to point B.  They let you do it for them, sometimes with a gas allowance.  It's a great cheap way to see the country, especially if you're going with someone to share in the gas cost and to keep you company.

I also came across a Couch Surfing site, which is basically a user database of free beds (or couches) you can try to stay in for a night.  That would account for the hotel room cost of the trips.

The big problem is that I would have to pay for passage BACK to Houston, which could cost up to $200 for a one-way plane ticket.  So much for that idea!
