Site Redesign

Here it is, the new design of the site!

I think you'll see that a lot of the extra crap is gone and now it's just a straight blog.  I plan on recoding a lot of the extra stuff to promote a cleaner look and feel, but for now, it's all gone.

You'll also notice (or probably won't notice) that RSS and E-mail notifications are currently not up.  This is because of the new nature of the site, and they will return, but I have to recode them.

On the last design, I felt very restrictive in my writing, for two reasons:

  1. I was constantly censoring myself because of the old blogger's axiom: don't blog anything you wouldn't want a prospective employer to read.  I can now control the privacy level of my posts.  I can set it either to public (for the prospective employers), family (for family and close friends), and private (for my eyes only).
  2. The last design was based on hobbies (due to rule #1), so I felt I couldn't write about anything that didn't neatly fit into the categories I set out for myself.  The redesign is completely category-free.

I also added a WYSIWYG editor, so I can easily add formatting like that numbered list preceding this paragraph.

And there we have it.  The new design!  I've also decided I'm not above using someone else's design, so I pulled this one out of the public domain.  I think it looks 10 times better than anything I could do!
