Television Bad!

<<< Site Redesign Road Trip to South Texas >>>

December 4, 2006:

Last night Pam and I had a discussion about why it was so hard to meet people. We came to the conclusion that we probably watch too much televsion. I estimated that we watch between 4-6 hours a day of television. We thought that we would find out what the average american watches a day, and limit ourselves to that amount. Much to our surprise, the average american watches 4.7 hours a day of television! I couldn't believe that we were right about average! This figure is up 37% from just ten years ago.

No wonder it's so hard to meet anyone anymore; everyone is home watching TV!

Pam and I are going to try to set up a few guidelines for watching TV. We're going to set up a chart of normal chores, and then every weekend make a list of every special chore that needs to get done that week, and on what day. The new rule is that we can't watch TV until all the chores are done. This will inherantly make us watch less television and get more done, without having to set an arbitrary limit to the number of hours we can watch.

Although it hasn't been mentioned between us, I'm sure this will apply to video games and Internet as well.
