Pirates and Rum!

<<< Armand Bayou Bird Count 4th of July Birding in Liberty >>>

July 8, 2006:

Last night I went to Truong's for boardgaming, and they were playing a game called "Pirates and Rum" by Rio Grande Games. Each player starts out with a color and placing them around a pirates. Whatever path they take, they take the action on the tile. You can collect a treasure map (2 halfs are worth points), set a rendevous with a woman (worth points), go to the pirate shop (worth points or gold), find buried treasure (worth points, but watch for scorpions, which are negative points!), get rum (which allows you to reroll later), collect gold, hire new pirates, or board the ship. At the end of the round, the pirates on the ship wrangle for a good sleeping position. The pirate left standing gets the tile worth the most points.

That's pretty much it. The game goes on for five rounds, and the pirate with the most points at the end wins. We pretty much determined that whoever was the best with the dice will win the game, so it's very a very light game and very luck-based. Overall, it was a lot of fun!
