Caching Made Easy

February 7, 2006:
I found this great feature for premium members on geocaching.com in which you can set up a query (up to 500 results) of every cache you haven't found around a single point. But that's not the best part! The best part is it send you an email with a location list (readble by GPS software) and now an e-book with a description of all the caches, with logs and hints! So my days of spending 30-60 minutes researching where I'm going to go and printing out all the info sheets are behind me. I'm a wanderer now :)
Anyway, on to my finds for the day. I had the car to myself today, so I decided to head up to the new travel bug hotel on I-10 in Baytown. I swapped out my two travel bugs (Neo action figure and a bunch of beads) for the three bugs that were in there (a plush frog, a bulldozer, and a stunt man). I needed a oil change, so on the way there, I found a small cache by the masonic lodge.
After my oil change, I thought I'd drive around until I spotted one. I found two right next to each other, so I drove over there. The first one was huge! It was in a 4 foot PBC pipe about 10 inches in diameter. According to the description, there was supposed to be a stash of walking canes in it, but alas, there was nothing but a logbook. The next one was probably the deepest I'd ever had to go in the woods. It was about 500 feet from the road through medium brush and took me about 5 minutes to get to. I noticed after I got there that it said to bring your own pen. Luckily, some other cacher had left theirs. I turned my GPS off and signed the logbook. Then I realized that I needed a signal to find my way back to the car! I trudged through the brush in the direction I thought I came from, and ended up about 200 feet away from where I came in.
I was getting late after that, so I did a quick stop at a park and grab across from an apartment complex. It was a small cache hidden inside a hole in a tree. So as you can now see in the header of this site, my count is up to 59 :)
